Like so many of our clients, this family was looking to update their front landscaping and elevate their property’s curb appeal with a crisp new retaining wall and plantings. Read about how our designer, CC Greene, helped the client budget for the project and decided to take a two-phase landscaping approach to the design process for this project.
When you work with Seiler’s, you can choose not to take on the whole project at once. Splitting the project into two phases not only helps organize the project and keep it simple, but it also helps you manage your budget.
In phase one of this project CC kept the design super simple and minimal. She decided to square off the new bed to match the boxy style of the client’s home. We removed unwanted shrubs and underground roots, removed all existing soil and tilled in high quality soil and conditioner to prep for future planting. The retaining walls hold up the bed so the future planting is balanced and the house and property can really shine. The Pisa XL blocks in “River” from Unilock were used for the bed as well as an Oxford Series blend of pavers from Reading Rock.
Another benefit you experience when working with Seiler’s is you always get a say in the design and the plants and materials used and we make it work for your project. CC chose the wall block and the new paver material. The client chose the Green Velvet Boxwoods along the left side of the home and CC suggested gravel around the plants for less maintenance.
The client is also looking forward to planting annuals along the front himself come spring. CC made sure to prep his main landscape bed with good soil and proper grading away from the house. The seasonal plantings are sure to thrive in this new bed and add pops of color to the home’s exterior.
