As Darren Shick, one of our experienced landscape architects, recalls how a previous connection led to the reimagining of an existing landscape design.

This landscape was ready for a fresh look, but the client was initially underwhelmed by the plan offered by another landscape architect. She connected with Darren through a previous project he had worked on, and Seiler’s Landscaping was brought in to revitalize the space. 

One of the most rewarding aspects of the project, Darren says, was the friendship that developed with the client. "The client relationship was just amazing... She was just great,” Darren says. “She even remembered my daughter's name."

Additionally, this particular client’s willingness to trust our vision and expertise was evident throughout the project. Transforming the Landscape

Every landscaping project comes with its unique set of challenges, and this one was no exception. "The topography, the highs and the lows of the project... everything's on a slope. Everything's kind of worked into a hillside,” he explains. Despite the difficult terrain, our team was prepared and swiftly got to work. Adding fresh greenery, hardscaping elements, a pool and other updates made the project a truly hands-on experience.

One of the standout elements of the project was the realization of the property’s natural features. “We completely removed areas of woodline or honeysuckle, turning it back to natural shade trees and native plants," Darren explains. By removing the invasive species, we were able to restore the property’s natural beauty.

"We just pushed all the woodlines back 10 to 30 feet on average to open up the backyard and reclaim the property," Darren continues. Our team was also able to add an updated hangout spot, complete with a pool and a luxury paver patio. This careful attention to the landscape’s natural features resulted in a space that feels both expansive and intimate, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment.

Instead of being completed all at once, this project was tackled through a series of carefully planned phases. Darren highlights the benefits of this approach: "Multi-phased projects are a great way to approach landscaping.” Choosing to do projects over time not only allows for a more manageable budget but also ensures that each stage of the project is executed with precision and care.

Even after the initial phases were completed, the client’s enthusiasm for the project continued. "We have two more phases still since the last pictures were taken that we haven't installed yet," Darren says, emphasizing the ongoing nature of our relationship with the client.
